My Story …
I spent the first six years of my living above a restaurant my parents owned in a small market town in Lincolnshire. My first cooking attempts took place in the professional kitchen although I fear I may have been more of a hindrance to the staff than a help.
A year living in Rome when I was 18 certainly opened my eyes to a whole new culinary experience as did a year in Puglia when I was at University. I found pleasure in fusing regional dishes in Italy and anglicising them slightly. This started a journey of ‘seeing what’s in the cupboard’ type cooking which has led to my whole world revolving around food now.
A little stint working in the fast food industry taught me a lot about food safety but also that it wasn’t the kind of food I wanted to be around.
As more time saving gadgets for the kitchen hit the market I am a sucker to see just how effective they are. Life is busy enough yet I am a firm believer in the fact that we CAN eat well without resorting to junk, if we simply prepare a little in advance.
